Description

Our client, a new and high-design resort with 124 rooms and suites on Sint Maarten, is seeking to hire a Chief Hotel Controller to be responsible for the following:

  • Manage the day to day operations of this hotel's Finance Department.
  • Maintain and implement standard operating processes and procedures within the department and throughout the business.
  • Ensure management information is relevant and accurate.
  • Supervise the finance team in an efficient manner.
  • Represent the department responsibly both within and outside the business.
  • Provide financial acumen to maintain and improve the efficient operation and profitability of the business.
  • Preparation of management accounts and analyze variances.
  • Managerial involvement in the preparation and delivery of annual operating budgets and forecasts for the property and provide analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost saving and productivity opportunities.
  • Support the process of cash flow forecasting and input on specific delivery points to ensure healthy liquidity position at all time.
  • Put in place appropriate controls to manage business risks.
  • Ensure a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations and profitability.
  • Monitor systems to ensure accuracy of data and support the achievement of revenue goals.
  • Oversee internal, external and regulatory audit processes
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and ensures account balances are supported by appropriate documentation in accordance with SOPs.
  • Represent Finance department at weekly and monthly managerial meeting to present and analyze results as appropriate.
  • Implement agreed purchasing procedures and ensure effective and efficient cost control systems in place.
  • Contract analysis / negotiation - maintenance and purchasing.
  • To be responsible for payroll, prepare associated reports and maintain necessary records as required.
  • Payroll forecasting - weekly initiation of departmental payroll forecasts and review of same.
  • Payroll reporting - analysis / follow up.

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant with 5+ years post qualification experience (ACA, ACCA or similar qualification) in a hotel environment.
  • Keen attention to detail & drive to improve quality.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to challenge performance.
  • Strong leadership / people management capability.
  • Ability to communicate complex information in a succinct and clear manner.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced and transforming environment.
  • Excellent MS Office skills, notably Excel.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and problem solve
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple activities with competing deadlines.
  • The successful Candidate will be a qualified accountant with technical, personal and business skills reporting on financial performance, control and finance strategy.
