Job Summary:
The purpose of this role is to lead and drive the performance and growth of the Curacao business, ensuring that the business delivers budgeted revenue, profit and operating cash flow targets. The General Manager is the final responsible of the full business. The business covers cleaning and infection prevention services. For this area the General Manager has general managerial, turnover and profit & loss (P&L) responsibility. The General Manager is responsible for ensuring that organisational values of Service, Relationships & Teamwork are driven and embedded across the sites, ensuring the colleagues represent the company professionally and in accordance with company ethics and standards. This position is responsible for the leadership and management of the Company which will generate a strong profitable and competitive position in the market and a well informed and motivated workforce. To determine the strategic direction and manage all of the activities of the subsidiary, in order to meet stakeholder requirements for profitability, market growth, efficiency, safety, quality, corporate governance and social responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Final responsibility for the whole country's business results.
- Promote company values and make sure values are lived in the organisation.
- Responsible for and focuses on growing strategic business areas with a view to maximise profit.
- Leads the management team through providing effective leadership to support the team in achieving P&L targets and results.
- Responsible for promoting business system and process improvement through focussing on efficiency.
- Considers cost effectiveness in any decision being made.
- Responsible for performance of the Sales & Service team; carrying out appraisals, creating personal development plans and setting SMART objectives and targets.
- Responsible for the change management process.
- Ultimately responsible for compliance HSE, quality and environment policies.
- Execute and drive Vision and Mission of RI.
- Leading the Management team in developing and refining long/medium term strategies and incorporating into a Strategic plan that fits within the framework of the Vision and Mission and Group strategy.
- Grow the business faster than the average market, increase the market share and consolidate business profit.
- Leading the management team to produce an annual business plan and translate into goals and objectives for each department and action plans and targets for middle management and junior staff.
- Monthly review and modification of strategy and action plans with management to ensure timely execution and achievement of targets.
- Provide all necessary support, advice and encouragement to enable colleagues to achieve sales and service targets, control expenditure and deliver debt management within agreed budget levels
- Promote participation in local and central competitions and incentive programmes and attending events as required
- Monitor, manage and reduce absence levels year on year
- Ensure performance management programme is delivered for all colleagues within agreed timelines
- Manage retention levels to ensure 75% of sales colleagues on board and 100% of new sales colleagues on-boarded year-on-year
- Establish and implement a sustainable workforce planning strategy which supports succession management strategy using Rentokil's Management Development Programme
- Ensure the highest standards in the execution of business instructions with regard to health and safety of colleagues, customers, site contractors, the public and the environment
- Drive employee engagement and enablement agenda throughout the region through year-on-year improvement in employee survey scores
- Ensuring the proper organizational structure is in place to deliver on the strategic objectives.
- Recruitment, development and retention of the human resources of the subsidiary by ensuring that suitable training, coaching, performance management and reward systems are in place for the achievement of the strategic plan.
- Ensuring that the performance management system is tightly linked to incentives and compensation.
- Proposing changes to the compensation plan in order to drive improvement and link reward to achieve targets.
- Development and implementation of incentives to drive behavioural changes.
- Develop and implement a succession plan for key positions in order to minimize disruption to the organization.
- Providing effective leadership to subordinate staff and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Ensuring that HR and IR issues are properly handled in accordance with country legislation.
- Design, develop and implement the Rentokil-Initial service delivery model within the business using a clearly defined protocol and KPI's for service delivery.
- Deliver operating plan agenda.
- Lead operational efficiency initiatives that improve costs, processes and systems.
- Ensure all contractual obligations to clients are met or exceeded in line with established service delivery levels.
- Improve business productivity in line with budget plan, using strategic work allocation and productivity methodologies.
- Build and enhance customer relationships and retention through scheduled visits.
- Deliver financial operating plan inclusive of cash targets.
- Lead improvement on sales and revenue growth, profit, net gain, terminations and cash (DSO and debt).
- Implement Field Sales Model and performance programme, recruitment, competency and retention model.
- Set and achieve business targets in accordance with overall business strategy and create an environment which supports the achievement of business objectives.
- Strategically and creatively negotiate with trade unions in service of business objectives.
- Conduct scheduled business reviews - sales and service performance, cost control, customer satisfaction.
- Work collaboratively with finance function to ensure accurate preparation of budgets within agreed timelines.
- Willing to perform any other reasonable duties that may arise in the delivery of business strategy and objectives.
Qualifications and experience:
- Post graduate qualifications.
- Bachelors’ Degree in Business Management or similar.
- At least 7-10 years’ work experience in senior managerial role supporting at the Executive level with progressive experience as a senior manager
- Proven track record in a sales/service delivery environment.
- Business and commercial acumen.
- Must be proficient in speaking/ writing English & Dutch. Speaking/ Writing knowledge of Papiamento will be an asset.
