The Manager Accounting Operations will oversee all accounting processes, including the application of retail accounting policies, controls, receivables, payables, and credit control. This role requires a professional with strong financial and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various departments and lead the finance team. He/ She will be a key partner within the finance department, playing a crucial role in supporting the CFO.


Core Activities:

  • Accounts Payable Management: Oversee the accounts payable process, ensure timely/accurate payments, manage vendor relationships, negotiate payment terms, and reconcile ledgers.
  • Accounts Receivable/Credit Management: Manage receivables, report ageing, collections, cash allocations, timely customer statements, and resolving billing issues.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting records, manage month-end and year-end closing processes, prepare/review journal entries, and liaise with external and internal teams to receive most up to date information.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor the accounting operations team, conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching and development, and provide professional training on the job.
  • Internal Controls and Process Improvement: Maintain and improve controls, optimize processes, enhance efficiency and transparency, collaborate with external auditors as necessary.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Assist in preparing financial statements or management reports, perform key analyses, provide decision-making insights, monitor key KPIs.

Kennis en vaardigheden

  • Professional Qualification in accounting/finance (RA/CPA degree would be an added advantage)
  • 6–8-year working experience as Finance Manager preferably within retail industry, and/or experience within an accounting/auditing firm
  • Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems (e.g. PowerBI) and MS Office.
  • Proven leadership, interpersonal and communication skills and collaborate well with other teams.
  • Ability to manage risks and apply controls, and a commitment to process improvement.
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, standards, laws and regulations.
  • High attention to detail, self-motivation, initiative, maturity, flexibility, ‘hands-on’ mentality.
  • Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English, both oral and written.
