Primary objectives of the job:
The regional HR Officer will join a team of four (4) Sr. members of the HR team and collectively oversee the crucial role of aligning human resources initiatives with business objectives in 15 territories within the Caribbean region. This position requires a strategic thinker who can collaborate with the HR Team and territory leaders to drive HR programs, talent development, and employee engagement. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of HR best practices, (relevant) employment laws, and industry trends, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. As part of a team responsible for 15 territories, the focus for this vacancy will primarily be the Dutch Caribbean territories.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic HR Planning:
- Partner with business leaders to understand business goals and provide strategic HR guidance.
- Develop and implement HR strategies that align with overall business objectives.
- Anticipate and address HR challenges to support the achievement of organizational goals.
Talent Acquisition and Management:
- Work closely with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and execute effective recruitment strategies.
- Drive the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring a smooth integration into the organization.
- Collaborate with leadership to implement talent development and succession planning initiatives.
- Act as a trusted advisor to employees and managers, providing guidance on HR policies and procedures.
- Address employee concerns, conflicts, and grievances, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Conduct investigations and recommend appropriate actions to resolve workplace issues.
- Partner with leadership to implement performance management processes and systems.
- Provide coaching and support to managers in conducting performance reviews and setting performance goals.
- Identify opportunities for employee skill development and improvement.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Stay informed about regional employment laws and regulations, ensuring compliance in all HR practices.
- Conduct regular audits to assess HR compliance and implement corrective measures as needed.
- Mitigate HR-related risks through proactive measures and continuous improvement.
General HR Administration:
- Works closely with the HR Admin team and as needed, support and oversee HR administrative deliverables, such as maintaining employee records, managing HRIS, and ensuring data accuracy.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5 years of progressive HR experience, with a focus on business partnering, strategic HR initiatives, and HR administration tasks.
- In-depth knowledge of local employment laws and regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Proven experience in talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and HR administration.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- This position can be executed either from Curacao or Aruba.
